Main Purpose of Job

The Outreach Coordinatorsupports the Marketing and Public Engagement efforts of the Department ofGeneral Services. The primary responsibility of the Marketing andPublic Engagement Unit is to effectively promote, bring awareness to, andincrease participation in General Services’ programs. The Outreach Coordinatorwill support this effort by completing a variety of administrative tasks andplanning activities related to coordinating, hosting, and attending a varietyof events including instructional, educational, networking, and promotionalevents. This position will also support the Director of Marketing & PublicEngagement in the completion of other tasks and activities related to marketingand operations, as needed.

POSITION DUTIES

Dutiesfor this position include but are not limited to:

- Performing administrative tasks such as respondingto inquiries from internal and external customers, ordering and receiving eventsupplies and materials.
- Coordinating, maintaining, and tracking allpublic engagement and outreach activities including educational, promotional,instructional, and networking events, workshops, and conferences by utilizing databases,spreadsheets, logs and reports.
- Presenting virtual events and meetings.
- Participating in project workgroups or sit oncommittees as requested.
- Identifying opportunities to promote programs,resources, and services through outreach and educational events.
- Transporting event equipment, materials, andsupplies to and from events.
- Event set-up and break-down including exhibitand marketing equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Reviewing, formatting, analyzing, andinterpreting data extracted from various sources.
- Keep abreast of relevant regulations, policies,laws, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor'sdegreefrom a college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

The examination forthis position will consist of a rating of your education, training andexperience related to the requirements of the position.Successfulcandidates will be placed on the employment eligibility list categorized asBEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED. The eligibility list willbe valid for one year and may be extended. The list will be used by thehiring authority to select employees for interviews. Eligible lists may be used to fill future vacanciesof the same classification.

Please note, selected candidates may be required tocomplete and successfully pass a State and Federal fingerprint background checkprior to being hired.

You must be legallyauthorized under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act to behired in the position for which you apply.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who workfor an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and WelfareBenefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hoursa week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidizedhealth benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractualemployee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for yourmedical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you haveenrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the costfor these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidentaldeath and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsibleto pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to acontractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period. This leaveaccrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hoursper calendar year.
