Claudia's obituary

Claudia Gail Hannon/ Peden was born on October 24,1944 in Oakland ,California. She liked to joke she was an Oakie from Oakland. Her parents were William and Evelyn Hannon. She was the second youngest daughter. Her siblings were Shirley, Virginia "Jenny", William "Dale", And Leta "Sue". Claudia moved to Oregon in 1952. She then grew up in Alpine and Bellfountain, OR area. Claudia would always tell a story about when she was in grade school. She lived down the lane from the school and one day her parents heard hollering coming from the school. Her parents knew right away that's "Claudia", something has happened in the school yard. Claudia could be heard from miles away. She graduated in 1962 from Monroe Highschool. Her first Daughter Sheri June Heyen was born in 1964. Her youngest daughter Rhonda Sue Heyen was born in 1966. She met Steve Peden in 1973 at a friend's house, in Monroe. The whole family moved to Arkansas in 1974 . Then in 1976 they were married. Claudia loved telling this story, they had bought the marriage license the first part of July and Steve had been putting her off. Claudia finally told Steve they had to get married that day or he would have to move out. He agreed to go to the courthouse, but he only was giving the judge 5 minutes. She loved telling how Steve answered his vows in a single word "YEP". "Do you take Claudia to be your wife? Yep."

They then moved back to Oregon and lived in the Lacomb area with Steve's mom. Claudia dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized in Woodburn, OR. After Steve's mom passed away, they moved to Bend in 1979 and then to Sisters in 1980. She started her long career for " The Bulletin" delivering the news to people's homes from Tumalo to Camp Sherman. 1981until 2020. Most people when they think of Claudia, they also think of going on the Newspaper Route or her being their carrier. She was a hard worker, rarely taking a vacation. Driving in her Datsun 210 with the window down and hair flying out the side. Usually, a co*cker Spaniel out the other window. Rain or shine, snow or heat, the paper was always there. Peden's Paper Service was heard on the answering machine for years when you would call the house.

She raised co*cker Spaniels for many years, from the early 80's to mid 90's. She took pride in having healthy and purebred lines across the west coast. Her daughter Rhonda later took on the kennel and had co*ckers through the early 2000's. She showed her puppies in the yearly Sisters Rodeo Parade. Coming in 3rd place 3 years in a row. She loved her dogs, something her and Steve did together.

Their grandchildren were very important to them both. Claudia loved her grandchildren more than anything else. Her and Steve raised their two oldest granddaughters Jamie and Rachel. Along with grandkids, they also had lots of nieces and nephews that they loved having around. Children always around. Growing up at Claudia's house was the best childhood memories a kid could ask for. Making fudge and making up songs on the paper route. Learning to drive the golf carts and having family reunions in the back yard. Family was important to Claudia. Fleshly family to her spiritual family. Her fleshly sister and all her spiritual sisters. She loved them all with her whole heart and would drop everything to help when needed. Later when her granddaughters where married, she gained grandsons that she loved as well. Then having great grandchildren, she was so proud of.

Claudia believed in the hope of a resurrection after death. She was not afraid of death knowing she would see her family again. She found comfort in this scripture Revelation 21:4 after her daughter Sheri passed say "God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed. She had faith that the scripture in Isaiah 33:24 saying, " No resident will say: "I am sick. Claudia could spend time with her daughter and husband in perfect health. All of them gardening and doing all the things they loved to do together. We will all miss Claudia. Her laugh, jokes and amazing cooking. We will see you soon in Paradise!
