This smoothie has become my favorite breakfast for now. This has all the goodness of oats, fruits and the necessary calcium and protein that keeps me filled without making me feel heavy. Usually when I make oatmeal for breakfast, no matter what some gets left over and when I get back home after dropping the kids in school, I’m not sure about you all but the look of the oatmeal is a sticky gooey mass which in short looks “Yuck” to me. This smoothie just happened when I was pondering over how to put that leftover super cold oatmeal to good use, as I did not have the heart to dump it right away into the sink.
Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: Nil | Serves: 2
Recipe Cuisine: Continental | Recipe Category:Breakfast
Ingredients:
- Cooked Oatmeal – 1 cup
- Banana, ripe – 1
- Yogurt (curd) – ¼ cup
- Milk – ¾ cup
- Almonds – 8 to 10
- Sugar – 2 tbsp
- Ice cubes – as needed
Instructions:
- Soak the almonds in little warm water and peel the skin away.
- Place the almonds in a mixer jar and grind it coarsely.
- Add the other ingredients and blend till smooth.
- Pour into tall glasses and serve immediately.
Notes:
- Instead of sugar you can also add honey or dates syrup.
- Instead of using ice cubes which may make the smoothie thin, you chilled curd and milk.
- You can also add a dash of vanilla extract.

Savita
A healthy one.....
Curd n milk together?
Will skipping curd make a huge diff to the shake?Reply
Radhika
You can skip curd if you do not want to add Savita. Since you already have oats and banana it will be thick enough for a smoothie.

wonderful recipe 🙂 if u're hard pressed for time in the mornings, just add the quick cooking oats straight into the mixie (uncooked)along with the milk & banana. I normally add homemade badam milk pd (simply grind almond, pista, cardamom, pinch nutmeg), flax seed pd along with date syrup. The badam pd also helps to get rid of the oat-y smell. To date, my fussy daughter doesnt know quite what goes into that banana smoothie she loves so much 😉

So nice of you to give so many options. You can come up with a zillion things. For me my kids are okay with oats but my younger kids does not like bananas but has been advised to take compulsorily to treat constipation. So I try to add bananas in whatever possible without him trying to find it out.

What an amazing breakfast! And I totally empathise with you about the yucky leftover porridge :S I'll try that one for sure- looks like a great weekend pick-me-up. I love oats too, and they are such a healthy grain that is perfectly suited to colder weather. Instead of the melted chocolate I might add a little blob of delicious date syrup....
