Hey
I’ve had Netflix for ages now and it’s now going up to $17.99 a month I think it is for 1080p
Just notice as I never noticed before they offer Netflix with ads for $7.99?
Question for those who know, how is it? How many ads do you get and are they before your movie/series or during and if so how many?
Are the ads like FTA crap or are they about Netflix series and movies
Thanks

there are also less shows and movies available on this plan
Twisty on 09/06/2024 - 15:31
Oh really? I didn’t know that

Streaming is a bit of a luxury these days. Consider piracy. Charging $215.88 a year is basically a form of piracy in itself, so you're technically not even doing anything wrong.

iPhones costing $2000 is basically a form of theft itself so technically stealing one is not wrong

@FireRunner: Tim Cook can afford to cop a single iPhone, if you see one fall off the back of the Apple Truck you should absolutely scoop that sh*t up.

@FireRunner: If I could download an iPhone, I definitely would.

@mskeggs: Fair enough. I’m not anti-piracy but I am anti nonsense arguments

Maybe because he stole more than his allocation of one.

~1-2 minutes in a 40min video. Random ads, e.g. telstra ads, movie (cinema release) ads, etc. Available shows and movies looks the same.
Twisty on 09/06/2024 - 16:38
Thanks for this
And like the above comment mention you don’t get all movies or series?shxhshzhz on 09/06/2024 - 16:38

It looks the same to me.
While the vast majority of TV shows and movies are available on an ad-supported plan, a small number are not due to licensing restrictions. These titles will appear with a lock icon when you search or browse Netflix.
This is written on Netflix's FAQs but it's not that noticeable.
Twisty on 09/06/2024 - 16:45
Hmm might be best to just stick with ad free then I guess

@Twisty: You know you can always move back to your current plan right? You are asking and hesitating as if it is a life changing decision you get to make once.

I'm on this ad plan and wanted to watch a film that wasn't available because of the cheap cheap ad plan. Can't remember which film, probably not a big loss

Agreed. I switched a month ago, and the programs available hasn't changed in any way that we could see. The only difference is a short ad every episode or movie, actually it's too short to get up for a drink top-up or toilet break.
Sweet3st on 09/06/2024 - 17:54
Why don't you flip between ad free and ads? Binge on the stuff you want to see, then give it a rest.
AustriaBargain on 09/06/2024 - 19:19

Or save more money and slip between ad free, ads, and no subscription at all. Could work out a lot cheaper than getting a year of no ads upfront.
snapper17 on 09/06/2024 - 19:47
you can also share with family and friends and divide the costs
you can get netflix discount vouchers to make it cheaperTwisty on 09/06/2024 - 20:34
I haven’t sent any account vouchers before
Boioioioi on 10/06/2024 - 08:43
How do you share? Now that it is locked to households
MeesusEff on 10/06/2024 - 12:57
I share with my sister, it sends me an OTP and let's her use it for 2 weeks, then she just does it again.
Boioioioi on 10/06/2024 - 13:23
Does it not charge you more for this?
MeesusEff on 10/06/2024 - 14:58
@Boioioioi: No, been on the 2 screen plan

it’s now going up to $17.99 a month
Mine is still showing $16.99
Pyrock on 10/06/2024 - 03:00
Refresh just clicked over for another month and I just got the notification that my (standard) plan is increasing to $18.99/m on 10th july….
Won't last for you too I'm sure 😥Twisty on 10/06/2024 - 08:22
Yes I got this too
jv on 10/06/2024 - 21:37
My next payment was due yesterday, 9th June, but they haven't taken the payment and it's still showing $16.99 for the "Standard" plan.
If they put it up, I'll cancel…

We have had the ads version for a year now. Might get 3-4 short ads in a movie. You miss out on some things because those content producers don't want ads in their movies etc. All of Pixar or DreamWorks from memory.
Only ever had one movie they didn't have but wasn't an issue as I download 90% of what I watch anyway. Netflix is mostly for the kids and they don't get ads.bbinc on 10/06/2024 - 08:53

Have had the ads version for a couple of months. Not many ads and not too long at a time. Far less annoying than SBS On Demand.
Twisty on 10/06/2024 - 08:59
Thanks for the reply
Only thing I’m concerned about is missing out on movies shows that are in the no ads plans
kiitos on 10/06/2024 - 09:21
On the ad plan after I suspended my 10.99 base plan and they discontinued it when I tried to go back :-(
It's ok, we watch a fair amount of FTA so don't mind ads. One annoying thing was that you can't download shows for offline viewing on a laptop, PC, etc.
Bruskey on 10/06/2024 - 09:35
One thing that also caught me out on the ads plan is that you cant cast from your device to a TV or Chromecast etc, so factor that into your decision as well. It doesnt really mention that anywhere clearly when you change plans.
Twisty on 10/06/2024 - 10:23
Not a big thing for me
Just missing out on content bothers meafoveht on 10/06/2024 - 19:10
Try getting that unavailable content on a cheap alternative service (like RD). Then when you're comfortable with it maybe get all your content from the same alternative service and ditch Netflix all together.
tulip99 on 10/06/2024 - 10:33
Thanks! I was thinking of dropping down to the ads plan as mine has just gone up from 10.99 to 12.99 and I cast from my tablet using chromecast to the TV.
Raulioli8810 on 10/06/2024 - 11:45
Save your money and educate yourself on using pirate pages. Also there's soooo many websites where you can stream all movies and tv shows for free. Just a simple google search. Some start with 123. It's as easy as Netflix
MeesusEff on 10/06/2024 - 13:00
If you're considering paying for ads, you might as well get real debrid and install stremio for under $55 a year, and you get content from all streaming services. I still have Netflix (was going to cancel but Netflix Turkey charged my 28d), but I am using Stremio much more now.

Moving from ads free to non-ads free since Netflix is hiking up their price. If that doesn't work as well, I'm done with Netflix. Also cancelling Disney+. There are too many subscriptions with no time to watch. Rather be spending more time with family and friends.
