Elden Ring's Grand Lift of Rold: How To Reach Mountaintop of the Giants (2024)

The Mountaintops of the Giants are a mid-to-end game zone in Elden Ring and home to the last of the Fire Giants. After visiting Elden Ring's Grand Lift of Rold: How To Reach Mountaintop of the Giants (1) Leyndell, Royal Capital and failing to commune with the Golden Order, the Mountaintop of the Giants quickly becomes the next target for the Tarnished in their quest to become Elden Lord. This major zone is incredibly secluded from the rest of the map, as there is only one way to reach this zone, the Grand Lift of Rold.

The Grand Lift of Rold is the most important lift in Elden Ring, as it can take you to two entirely different zones. When the Tarnished hits this junction in the story, it will take the player to the Mountaintops of the Giants by default. However, if you know where to find two hidden medallion pieces, it can also take you to Miquella’s Haligtree. Whether using the Grant Lift of Rold to ascend or descend, below is everything you need to know about this essential plot point in Elden Ring.

To get the Rold Medallion to reach the Mountaintops of the Giants in Elden Ring, players need to defeat Morgott, the Omen King. After defeating Elden Ring's Grand Lift of Rold: How To Reach Mountaintop of the Giants (4) Godfrey, First Elden Lord , Elden Ring's Grand Lift of Rold: How To Reach Mountaintop of the Giants (5) Morgott, the Omen King stands as the final hurdle in Leyndell. You might remember this familiar foe from earlier in the game, under the name Margit, the Fell Omen.

Although many of this boss’s moves are the same, you can expect a much more expanded range of mechanics from this challenging boss. Once you have felled Morgott and attempted to commune with the Golden Order, speak with Melina to receive the Rold Medallion.

To make this fight easier, players may want to use the Mimic Tear Spirit Ash Summon or opt for the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War in Elden Ring.

Once players have acquired the Rold Medallion, they can travel Northeast through the Forbidden Lands until they reach the Grand Lift of Rold Site of Grace. Players will encounter a Kindred boss on this route, which they can either fight or evade.

At the Site of Grace, players should climb the stairs to the lift. Once at the top, players will find two large guardian statues wielding spears. The ground in front of the statues is marked with a circle, and players should stand in the circle to select "Hoist Medallion" to arrive at the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Miquella’s Haligtree is a hidden zone in the western reaches of the Lands Between and home to the hardest boss in Elden Ring, Melania. To reach this zone, players need to obtain the two pieces of the Haligtree Secret Medallion in Elden Ring and use them at the Grand Lift of Rold.

You can find the right half in the Village of the Albinauries, near Lirunia of the Lakes. The second half of the Medallion is found in Castle Sol, in the Mountaintops of the Giants. To get this final half, you need to defeat Commander Niall, a difficult boss who guards a hidden path leading to this Medallion piece.

Once players have both the right and left halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion, they can return to the Grand Lift of Rold. Now that you have both Medallions in your inventory, you need to select your desired destination each time you use the Grand Lift of Rold. With everything necessary to complete the journey, you can finally reach Miquella’s Haligtree and access this hidden zone in Elden Ring.
